Unity Install: The file [...\com.valvesoftware.unity.openvr-1.1.4.tgz\package.json] cannot be found

I get the above error when installing the steamVR plugin in unity. I think it is because the package.json file is not in the root of the tarball, Its in the package subdirectory.
