Your system information

  • Steam client version: 1714854927
  • SteamOS version: 3.6
  • Opted into Steam client beta?: Yes
  • Opted into SteamOS beta?: Yes
  • Have you checked for updates in Settings > System?: Yes

Please describe your issue in as much detail as possible:

Currently the selection of CEC supported buttons for a remote control is really thin. Here are a few suggestions on what buttons to implement:
Options button should open QAM
Home button should bring you back to the home view
Guide button might be the best one for STEAM menu.
Media control buttons should control starting, stopping and skipping tracks if a game soundtrack is currently playing
Info button could be used to to immediately hop to the Game Info page of a game if a game tile is currently in focus or if a game page in your library is currently open

Is it possible to have the info button show the top toolbar overlay briefly? Info isn't supposed to jump to pages or views, it typically pops up an overlay with (in the TV case) channel info, current program and the EPG description.

It would be cool if there were an overlay "game info"/"now playing" screen with quick options to quit game, start remote-play-together, etc., but that's not there in the big-picture/deck UI yet.

A TV remote has the 4 function keys red, green, yellow and blue. These could be be used to trigger UI actions that are normally bound to X, Y and Start and Select.
@sirocyl I'm thinking info could be used to cycle mangohud modes

Another idea: When no media is playing, skip forward and skip backwards media buttons could switch tabs similar to how L1 and R1 do.
