Favicons from head.html not shown

Hello!
I followed your instructions to install the theme but I'm having one weird issue with the content of /assets/img/favicons/.
Either if I comment the url on _config.yml or if I set the value to //<my user>.github.io everything loads correctly (logo, background img, links to post, etc) except for the icons. Unless I keep the original value https://taylantatli.github.io/Moon the icon in the tab doesn't appear.

I checked my source page to verify the generated href and it seems correct (if I click on it I can see the img) but it just doesn't show in the tab.

What am I doing wrong? I'd like to set my own icon but I cannot even load yours :(
