I came across this project quite randomly and it looks interesting but the only SmartPADs I can find for sale are version 2 and this only mentions the original version as far as I could find. Is it known if this works with v2 version of the controller?

I saw the smartpadV2 on AMZ US and in the photo you can see that it still has the mini usb plug, which is very old. I think the hardware/PCB must be the same inside, possibly only the external design is different.........But........If they've changed the rubber quality of the pads so that they're less hard to press, if they manage velocity and/or aftertouch and if they've added more colors to the matrix and the buttons around it, it could be a very good device. But in any case, you'd have to reprogram the FW to be able to emulate it as a launchpad. @TheKikGen has already done it with V1. It would require a lot of retroengineering, but maybe. On the other hand, if nothing has changed in terms of quality, you'll have to make concessions on the pads and their lighting, provided the V2 is flashable like the V1. In short, ....we'll have to see what's inside before taking the plunge.

It is probably almost the same hardware , but the buttons leds are now RGB.
The only way to know, is to buy and open one.
