Opening tab in background does not pause it

Go to YouTube, long press a video link and select open in background. It will start playing the video without switching to that tab as you can hear the audio. If you switch to that tab the muted icon is shown but audio is playing.
As soon as the app is sent to the background the video stops playing.

Yeah, for Invidious is the same, but it plays with the sound right away. On for example Fennec/Mull it waits for the user input.

I would like to add something I came across:

When playing normal video in Invidious the behavior is as you'd expect. But when playing a video in the listen mode (when it doesn't load the video), the audio is playing when opening a tab or turning off the screen.
