Sections: Parole, Probation

Applies to all states.

Metric

Reincarceration Rate, per 100 people on supervision (parole or probation, depending on section).
Methodology: Transitions from supervision to incarceration per month, excluding short-term stays (shock incarceration, discretionary jail time, etc). Rate is per the number of people on supervision. Should be more or less the same methodology used in Pathways for simplicity of implementation.

Breakdowns

  • Filter by: Supervision Office
  • Split by: Demographics (Race, Age, Gender)

Visualization & Controls

  • Bar Graph (multiple graphs when split, similar to the implementation of Length of Stay)

Hey @macfarlandian. I'm poorly familiar with structure of data flow in public-dashboard for now, so I'm asking for guidance here. What kind of data should I use for this metric, and does it exists in current demo files?

Also, @hobuobi, should this metric be implemented in narrative page? If yes, what copy should I use for section title/body etc.

Thanks, guys!

There is no fixture yet for this one, as far as I know. But if it's supposed to match the Pathways methodology for this metric then it's possible we could adapt a fixture from there ... they aren't in the same format and they have way more dimensions than we need here, so it would mostly be a matter of taking out unnecessary stuff and reformatting it (those fixtures are enormous so we will have performance problems in Spotlight if we don't trim the fat)
