Starting a new issue since the old issues are pretty stale now.
Observed this morning during high load:

Both ARAX and KG2 requests are occasionally not terminating.

I'm am uncertain what to do about it, I had ideas at one point but have forgotten them now.
Creating an issue for visibility.
