Image disappears when aborting the "go back" gesture

When I'm viewing an image and do the "go back" gesture of android (swiping from screen edge towards the middle) so that the arrow appears, but don't release it and instead swipe back to the screen edge and release there, to abort going back, and then tap the image, it will disappear, and a horizontal and a vertical scrollbar appear.

I'm on Android 14, using RedReader V1.23.1 from the Play store.

Doing the same thing during in app videos also causes an issue: the video player controls can't be shown/hidden anymore by tapping on the video
