As described in this issue of Delta Lake project delta-io/delta#1408, they are planning to get rid of version control and replace it for a set of features that must be supported in order to read/write a table property.

This could be potentially beneficial for Qbeast. Currently we are extending/mocking some part of the code of Delta, and ideally the Table Features could let extend the format in a more clean and programmatic way.

We should explore if this is really feasible, how to do it and be updated on the topic.

Here is the design document (that is also linked in the issue): https://docs.google.com/document/d/1UZ4W4nnKH4x9t3hy0eh68P0RFRAchoHihdXftdnycDQ/edit
