How can I (or if it's even possible) use this to construct and use custom maps? #706

I'm looking to possibly use this to plot out planetary systems that have their data coordinates being on a 2d plane.

In no basic terms a map of this: https://sarna.net/wiki/File:3151_Known_Universe_(Sarna).svg and have the points containing the other semantic information.

Information source (for the map link and also would be used to create the locations): https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1x9bvFqSb4_or8JbvGj2LnezGkChWxEzRPf5FXvjonHE/edit#gid=763006440

Just making sure I understand correctly. You refer to having the leaflet map be blank and have only the locations (based on the coords given) plotted?

I guess the follow up question would be how to make the coords using our references:

As we have:

  • X-ordinate for mapping purposes as extracted from official maps
  • Y-ordinate for mapping purposes as extracted from official maps
  • Reference size (in LY) of a system/cluster for mapping purposes,
  • width, height, rotation. (Widths and heights are from center to edge, not edge to edge)

Willing to talk via discord or another method if it would be easier.

Huh? I'm saying that you can use images as layers, and then place markers on those using coordinates.
