ROV News

Engineering Discovery Showcase

The ROV team had a table at the Engineering Discovery Showcase. The EDS is designed to attract Highschoolers to Portland State by showcasing all the cool engineering stuffs that happen at PSU. The team showed off wireless control of throttle of a motor.

Grant From Engineering College Pilot Program

The Engineering College, in a bit to increase the 'awesomeness' quotient of the projects going on within its walls, has begun a Pilot program to better fund these projects. The Dean, with a committee selected from the Engineering faculty, read proposals from a number of student groups. The ROV team asked the engineering pilot program to fund the purchase of a hokoyu scanning laser rangefinder. The program elected to fund our group up to $1000.

Funding from the PSU Physics Club

The Physics Club has voted to fund our team. They have bought for us 4 motors, 4 Electronic Speed Controllers, 2 Cameras, 2 Wireless "Xbee" communicators, a frame, two batteries, a power supply, and a number of smaller items. Thank You Physics Club!
