The use of the words "vertically" and "horizontally" is counter intuitive. Horizontally should create a horizontal line and vertically a vertical line. Instead, it is used vice versa.

I see what you mean, I found it hard to understand myself, so I tried to clarify it in the hover message, which says "Align sations horizontally (same x coordinate)". But I agree it is not clear. Writing "align vertically" instead could be kind o misleading, too. Maybe it's better to write something like "align on vertical line"
Adding an icon to the menu as in the "File" menu could also help clarify the meaning. I guess something depicting a vertical and horizontal line would make sense
