Would be great to have some stats about the number of visitors. An open source tool I know is https://matomo.org, formerly known as Piwik. It is important NOT to track visitors.

Do you mean the number of visitors on the GeoPortal homepage or the number of people that use the GeoPortal services ?

As far as I know Matomo/Piwik can "track" the visits for the homepage but not for the services.

I can generate graphs based on the access log from Apache though.
