On embedded systems like the Raspberry we have had no clean ways to start and finish opencpn automatically when system goes up and down. The reason is that OpenCPN has lacked functionality in this respect and also some bugs.
However, for 5.9 OpenCPN has fixed it's part. This means that there are new clean ways to start/stop with current master:
To start OpenCPN when logging in just drop an opencpn.desktop file like the one
here in ~/.config/autostart. The actual
command to run is the
Exec=
line, you probably want to modify this.To finish OpenCPN there is the new
opencpn --remote --quit
command line form. However, this has some problems. So, there is now a python script here.
Contrary to
--remote --quit
it is fast, works also with Flatpak and blocks until OpenCPN actually has exited. This script needs to be run as part of the power down process. You might need
sudo apt install python3-gi
for it to work.Beta Was this translation helpful? Give feedback.
