Bookmark widget to checking page status in Firefox #153
Comments
Checking server status is (kinda) possible in bookmark widget. But since extension has limited capabilities, it's sending HTTP request, not TCP ping.
|
thanks for your reply
how do I need to setup the bookmark widget to see that my server is up and
running?
instead of the extension querying the file system could a task on my system
update the anori widget e.g. every 5 minutes?

outdated file
I don't think this is possible, extension doesn't have access to your file
system

@juergmaier when creating bookmark, tick checkbox 'Check page status' and save. That should be enough
It's possible in theory (by using 'native messaging'), but this is very niche task so I don't think it's really needed in Anori. But you of course can always fork Anori and add it for yourself |
thanks again. the bookmark tells me it needs permissions and shows a popup
window. It does however not react on clicks on the "grant permission"
button?

I unfortunately don't have Ubuntu to check this |
solved issue by going to about:addons in firefox, then set permissions in
anoris Manage page.
After restarting firefox I see the host name displayed in the widget.
However, as my hostpage is a http: and not a https: url the widget shows a
red dot and trying to access the page failes. It also does not help to add
the complete url as a http://<page>

Hi Oleg
I have changed my dash app and it is using a https:// address now. When I
look at the widget it still shows a red icon. Clicking the widget opens my
dash page. When hovering over the icon it shows that the page has been
checked 3 days ago. I thought it would be checked every 5 mins or does this
need to be set somewhere?
Regards
Jürg

Hmm, it should check every 10 minutes, 3 days is a bit too much of a delay. I'll take a look onto it, might be something specific to Firefox Can't provide any estimates though |
feature request for a widget showing traffic light icon for things like:
outdated file
I have a data gathering task and would like to see an alarm, when no regular updates occur
parameters: file location, max time difference between now and file modification time
server unreachable
result of ping request with parameters ip address and query interval
or does it already exist but I havent found it?
