After discussion with @veroandreo, @petrasovaa , and @wenzeslaus we propose a new UI/UX for the navbar that we believe will help users and developers more efficiently find relevant project information. Each section below represents a section on the navbar. Discussion surrounding items marked as new can be linked as independent issues or pull requests.

The News page will be on the main home page with a button linking to older news. We also propose adding Download, Get Involved and Sponsor buttons above the fold on the home page.

What do you all think?

Note: These changes are only for site navigation and are not related to the sites theme, branding, or development software.

I'm positive with any of these changes that improves the usefulness of the site. As long as existing links everywhere on the web still link (or redirect) to the new equivalent page, I'm ok with it. Oh, and if the existing redirects (if any) are preserved.

I checked OpenCollective sponsor list to embed (called banner): https://opencollective.com/grass/banner.html There is a way to customize that.

However, it overemphasizes organizations over individuals assuming that these have the highest donations, but we have organizations and high donations in the individuals category. We don't have to use it.

@wenzeslaus as long as we can pull the raw data from open collectives api we can organize it into different components for individual and organizational sponsors.

The same goes for the home page if we can filter for sponsors above a certain level to feature.
