I cloned a package from github OPM-DATA for reservoir simulations. After trying to run them the program crashes.

Once opening ResInsight in Ubuntu I got this error:
QStandardPaths: wrong permissions on runtime directory /run/user/0/, 0755 instead of 0700 Segmentation fault.

I changed that by using command ~#sudo chmod 0700 /run/user/0/ after that I only got Segmentation fault.

I also noticed that after opening ResInsight in the message box it mentioned in orange that it is not able to communicate with octaver. On the ResInsight website under Peferences I changed my peferences to their essential preferences and I still cant open any of the files .DATA, .EGRID, etc.... it just crashes.

Please can someone help me out I am new to Linux.

Here are the installation description for ResInsight
https://resinsight.org/getting-started/download-and-install/linux-installation/

Please install ResInsight this way to make sure the installation package is working correctly.

Thank you for your response. I tried re-installing all the steps from the installation you recommended but I keep getting the same error --> QStandardPaths: wrong permissions on runtime directory /run/user/0/, 0755 instead of 0700
