I want to create a guide that everyone can use for changing NsCDE's various kinks, can you help me? #182

Hello there, I want to use NsCDE as much as you do but, spoiled by modern wm's and de's I have some tastes in some matters. I am not saying NsCDE's defaults are incorrect I'm just trying to say they are rather different from what we usually use. So instead of rewiring my brain I want to make a comprehensive guide to make NsCDE similar to modern wm's

  1. Thanks to sjlongland we know we can disable shift/ctrl left/right keys from their default use in NsCDE.
    '''
    Key Left A S -
    Key Right A S -
    Key Left A C -
    Key Right A C -
    '''

And for meta key you can do:
'''
Key Left A M -
Key Right A M -
'''

That's as far as I come though.

  1. Second kink i would like to change is mod + backspace behaviour. as for now I don't know what does backspace key called so i cannot cancel the actions for that for any modifier key.

  2. Since we no longer have a keyboard centeric way to switch the focused window we should put that action to Super key, unfortunately i neither know the actions name or the Super keys name in NsCDE configuration. Same has to happen with Meta + Tab too

  3. Focus change on mouse movement is cool and all but we should be able to change that i prefer pressing the window for focus.

  4. Speaking of click-to-focus. As of now you need to press either the title bar or the borders of the window to rise it. This makes window management harder if you don't use a precise mouse, i personally have a trackball mouse and well just rising a window is kind of hard for me. We need to make window rising from just clicking anywhere in the windows.

  5. Not a must but if i remember correctly in the good ole CDE while carrying a window there wasn't a coordination popup. That could be tackled too.

  6. I know this is like killer feature of fvwm but disabling desktop splitting into 4 would be good. I just need one and more than one is inconvenient at least for me (the dock icon might be a problem here since if i know correctly it always shows 4 splits).

Please add more to the list if anything comes to your mind, I didn't included thing like "one click close button" because i want to keep it authentic to CDE and NsCDE is right on the spot for that. I also didn't mention "picom by default" since it can easily changed in the config and has a comment in the config file on how to do it.
