X doesn't work well with terminal switching #115
Comments
Hi @dchmelik Sorry for waiting on reply, summer vacation ... Strange, but this most probably doesn't have anything with fvwm or NsCDE, but with X/Xorg setup. Try to start something different (mwm, kwin, i3 ...) on :1 and try this switching while it starts. Most probably you will get the same result. OTOH, maybe you didn't switched to the right virtual console. Maybe it is on Alt+F8 or F9 ... |
Hi @dchmelik Are you sure this has anything to do with NsCDE? I'm not as I commented. Can we close this, or there is still something to try? |
Certainly a X/NsCDE bug (at least your X server or how you use it). There are no 'right & wrong' consoles for such cases except the one using for specific software; I switched to another (which has to work) and switched to the NsCDE one: if it was 'wrong', then how would've I seen it halted?! Are you saying I saw NsCDE exit on a console it wasn't run on--how would that even be possible--what are you talking about?! Usually when I switch from XFCE & KDE and back (on :0) those work fine (only secondary/smaller projects on ':1' like NsCDE sometimes don't). I have many things to work on but if you can tell me how to start NsCDE and get whatever log while I'm still running XFCE on another terminal, I will get to it eventually. |
Hi @dchmelik While in NsCDE, you can go to Exit on Front Panel, choose OTOH, maybe just some timeout before xinit commands you have for :0, :1, :2 ... whould do the job. P. S. |
I ran X/NsCDE on second terminal.
As NsCDE graphics were starting, I temporarily switched back to XFCE. I switched back to NsCDE and only saw the command I'd given to start it.
