Forever looping story mode

The story mode goes on forever, with no credits screen at any given point. I've watched other videos of people reaching the credits screen after playing through some of the story mode, but it just goes on endlessly for me. Is there a setting I have to change in order to reach an end?

There is always an end, unless you have other mods active too. The ends of each story are left in place so after u progress through the number of events that the vanilla story has it'll put you in a boss fight and end the story. Not entirely sure what you're experiencing but your seed and progress will likely reset when you close the game, so if you close the game and reopen from the start it my appear to never end. Test it out tho and let me know. You can hold L R and Y to auto win stages and skip thru the cutscenes, you will get to an end. Otherwise, let me know.
