how to deal with "N"

A clear and concise description of your question or what you expected to happen.
The draft genome was used to correct errors. There were several gaps in the draft genome and each gap was represented by 500 'N'. However, the gaps disappeared after nextpolish. So, why does this happen and how nextpolish deal with 'N'?
