1 - download NodeJS
2 - download / install / build gcc or clang
3 - download / install a c++ debugger (i use deleaker to find memory leaks for example)
4 - git clone https://github.com/NerdLang/nerd/
5 - use nerd with --debug and --conserve switches

Fair, but this only debugs the generated C++, rather than the generation of that C++ from JS.

Also, where to set breakpoints? I think nerd.js is the main file, but how can one set up breakpoints so that one can step through it when one runs node nerd somefile.js?

What do you want to debug from JS ? Code generation ?
