Back in June 2023, I started to upgrade Datawave to use the latest version of lucene, but I haven't completed the work due to other priorities.

If someone else wanted to get involved, I'd be happy to collaborate: https://github.com/drewfarris/datawave/tree/lucene-9.5.0-wip

Lucene has an amazingly rapid release cycle, so the current version is 9.8.0.
