Not sure what to do yet, some throwaway ideas:

  • Pride, Prejudice: The problem isn't generating over 50,000 words. The problem is existing books are too long. Pride and Prejudice is 120, 697 words, Moby Dick is 215,136 words (or 215,136 meows). And we all know 50,000 is the perfect length for a novel. So how can we reduce the word count? Some quick ideas:

    • Use contractions everywhere: "won't" instead of "will not"
    • words into numerals: "fifty thousand pounds" into £50,000
    • Remove redundant text (like what? those 500 "very" in P&P can go)
    • Replace multi-word synonyms with singles
    • Remove duplicate words or sentences
    • Remove (some? all?) adjectives
    • Use a text summariser
    • Just rip out sentences (or chapters!), no one'll miss them!
    • Anything else?
  • What is Trump? A variation on last year's Dear Santa, a chapter crowdsourced from each state, populated from a Twitter search.

  • 280

Or an undone throwaway idea from 2016:

  • Chained tweets: 1. Find tweet, 2. find tweet starting with the previous tweet's last word, 3. repeat to 50k. Maybe ignore tweets with @ or links or #.
  • A poet, struggling, gets stuck with words, tries others. Modify an existing epic poem, use Wordnik's related words.
  • A 50k version of Lassi and the Leavings' "Onnelliset".
  • A Dictionary of Loved and Hated words. A bit like A Dictionary of Not-A-Words but using @lovihatibot instead: perhaps a loved then a hated word. Perhaps a loved, and then the same word hated, with example tweets. Perhaps alongside definitions. Perhaps definitions. Perhaps a chronological report thing to show top ones from each month over the last year.
  • A friend says he has trouble reading Russian literature due to keeping track of the unfamiliar names. So perhaps rewrite some Dostoyevsky with names like Dennis, Michelle.

My stuff from 2016 and 2015 and 2014.

Alabama

Everyone who voted for Trump is racist.

If they believe they had any other reason, they’re just lying to themselves, too.

Arizona

Trump is one of the sleaziest persons I know.

Arkansas

Trump is president. The Astros defeated the Dodgers in the World Series. Call of Duty is good again. New Star Wars in a month. 2017=awesome
Still trying to figure the date Trump is trying to achieve. Back when America was great translates into which date exactly? Is it Mythical?

California

or, maybe, in a universe where Donald Trump is a TV actor... badger

Colorado

Here's an example of why government is killing innocent people in 2017 - I mentioned Kamikaze pilots not knowing Trump is going to Hawaii.

Connecticut

Just like Trump is trying to destroy and recreate the Republican Party. Independent Socialist Bernie Sanders is doing the same to Democrats

Delaware

One of the things Trump is masterful at is luring people into stooping to his level. But in doing so, you're no better than he is.

Florida

Trump is going to find his phone soon and start tweeting how amazing Donna Brazile is. She handing him 2020 before our very eyes.

Georgia

Really?! Mueller invest is more than "speculation" take off the rose colored glasses. Trump is going down

Idaho

Saying Trump is "So bad he makes Bush look good" is liberal bullshit

Illinois

Trump is a fish. Hail to the fish.

Indiana

The earth is melting. Trump is in office. Trans women are being murdered. But you wanna be mad over the word "stupid". Shit, girl, I guess!
it really worries me that liberals will support literally anything if Trump is against it and vice versa

Iowa

So what's really behind the curtain that Trump is distracting us from? And what's behind the curtain of those that throw us Trump?
