Q: clarification on how it sorts on existing organized apps/folders #3

Question: does LaunchPadder honor an existing layout of folders or does it trash everything and start anew based on the rules?

I ask b/c I have my apps organized in folders and on the main LaunchPad screen, but I have a lot of apps in some folders and just want the apps in the existing folders sorted alphabetically. This app looks great, but before I click SORT, I need to know if I'll loose the work I've already done organizing my LaunchPad.

Also, does it save the existing layout and can one revert a sort if they don't like the results?

Also, once the rules are configured, is sorting dynamic/on-the-fly as new apps are installed/added, or is it static and one has to open LaunchPadder and manually SORT again to keep it organized.

Can you add some screen shots to show a before/after with several of the settings?
Thank you for this neat tool!

The LaunchPadder will rearrange the existing layout according to the rules you configured.

Arrangement does not delete and modify the existing folder organization structure, it only arranges the elements inside the folder.

The folder itself will be considered visible element and participate in the ordering of its hierarchy.

Unless you use the Reset LaunchPad function in the menu, and choose to continue in the warning panel that pops up with the "the layout will be lost" message, LaunchPadder will only arrange existing elements, not modify the folder organization.

The LaunchPad will automatically updates its layout when a new app is installed, or an app is deleted, but gaps may occur.

At this point you can use LaunchPadder to sort it again according to the rules you configured earlier.

I had the same concern. I have a lot of apps manually organized into folders and was concerned about all my work being lost. All I want to do is to sort apps alphabetically inside and outside of folders I created. I believe many new users would appreciate seeing this reassurance in the app readme.

Thank you Molay for what appears to be a brilliant, well-designed app. I look forward to giving it a try.

Update: LaunchPadder worked perfectly as described. 👍🏼
