In netcode.io there are a number of mechanisms for supporting loopback. Namely things like netcode_client_connect_loopback which AFAICT connect a client to itself. It would be good to investigate the purpose of this and develop high level interfaces to support it. It is currently only exposed via the low-level bindings.
