Shadow Rift, which creates a portal from any one location to another (barring a few terrain_lair rooms and marion crypt / resting place ) will close when there are no players in the room.
If a player stays in the room, the portal never closes.
It's a problematic design to allow permanent portals to be created by players that can stay up anywhere.
Current problems:
Portals to other special areas do not stay open permanently anywhere in Meridian - the huge quest to get to Martyr's that requires a week or more of player planning - the portal there only stays up 45 minutes.
It encourages and supports anti-social gameplay behavior; allows "multi-boxing" players to farm too easily.
Can be used by aggressive players to have a constant route to major areas to hinder gameplay/pk
Players leave the shadow rift portals up in public spaces too - a rift from Jasper Inn to Brax for example - and new players will wander into these and wind up in end-game areas they do not understand - this a is a huge problem
Prisms have no durability
Reagent requirements for the spell are too light
Location on prism stays bonded to the prism
As you can imagine, players will create the portal then leave a character online indefinitely, or create them in areas with a lot of other traffic - having these portals stay up at all times, going to anywhere in the world, allowing people to accidentally fall into them, doesn't seem like the intended use or design of the spell.
Expected Behavior:
Shadow Rift portals should not be able to made in any safe spots: Guild Halls, Inns, Bars
Shadow Rift portals should open long enough for a group of players to get quickly from one location to another but close after a reasonable amount of time (10-15 minutes)
Remove "location bonding" or add decay time to it
