Our general open source software contribution guidelines apply whenever joining or opening improvement proposal discussions. This repository aims to provide a structured and organized process for discussing and proposing Komodo-and AtomicDEX related improvements. All KIPs should be open to public discussion and revision before they can be reviewed & accepted. Therefor we ask you to check the roadmaps and issue tickets in the relevant repositories such as komodo core and AtomicDEX prior to opening the relevant discussion in the Komodo KIPs discord channel. Furthermore please open a issue ticket in this repository as you confirm your proposal is not redundant / a duplicate.

Please read and ensure you understood the Contributor Code of Conduct . By participating in this project, you agree to abide by its terms.

KIP Vote guidelines

The standard schedule for the KIP voting process once a submission is approved is as follows:

  • Poll dates and details are announced in Discord, blogs, newsletter and social media.
  • Snapshot is done no less than 1 week after the announcements, and Airdrop is processed.
  • Poll completes no less than 2 weeks after the airdrop.
  • Poll results are validated and announced within 1 week of the completion of the poll.
Ideally KIPs should be presented with only 2 options. In cases where 3 or more options are presented, a proposal will be considered successful if it has the highest vote count, and also attracts a percentage of votes greater than the values in the table below:

Options Percentage
2 50.0001%
3 42%
4 36%
5+ 33%

If no option reaches the threshold, a "run-off" vote will be scheduled. Run-off polls will have a shorter voting period, and reduced number of options.

  • Run-off polls will be scheduled as soon as possible following an "undecided" outcome.
  • The "run-off" will exclude the option which recieved the lowest number of votes and any option which attracted < 5% of the vote in the previous poll.
  • There shall be a minimum of 1 week between the announcement of a "run-off" vote and its snapshot/airdrop.
  • Run-off polls will complete 1 week after their airdrop.
  • The chain name for Run off polls will be in the format `KIPXXXXR` (where XXXX matches the number for the original poll).
  • If a second run off poll is required, the format `KIPXXXXR2` will be used.
  • If after the second run-off poll the result is still "undecided", the proposal will be rejected.
  • After 6 months, rejected polls may be resubmitted for approval at the discretion of the Komodo Platform team.
