I was trying to figure out what version I had installed, and the version.txt file in the project root reports V1.0.0 BETA 5 while the manifest.json reports 1.0.0 and both are wrong! I have the "Beta 6" downloaded...

Known oversight, it's been rectified for the next release
The manifest will always say V1.0.0 as I am unable to change that without bumping it up to V1.0.1 etc
That's a sim limitation

the sim won't let you do more complex version strings like V1.0.0+beta.6?

Negative, not for the in-game menus!
It'll revert to a number version
