Issue

Access to Chinese Patterns is currently very low; SEO measures are needed; we need to increase traffic to our Chinese pages and to make more people aware of InnerSource Patterns; we need to increase traffic to our Chinese pages.

Purpose:

Increase traffic to Chinese pages and make more people aware of InnerSource Patterns.

Problems:

  • Problem 1: Indexing problems with Google
While primarily simplified Chinese is the mainland Chinese language, in many cases Taiwanese can also read that Chinese and it would be great to be indexed by Google in a more understandable way.
  • Problem 2: Indexing to Baidu and other Chinese search engines
It is possible that sites frequented by Chinese in the mainland are not being indexed properly.

By doing the above properly, we will be able to increase your Chinese language traffic 🚀

Thank you or sharing this info @yuhattor.

@WillemJiang do you have any experience with these topics, or could point us to approaches that may help us here?

@yuhattor @WillemJiang might this be an issue that we could work on during hacktoberfest?

Besides working on this ourself, not sure if we could also try to chop up this work into smaller pieces that are more beginner friendly?

@yuhattor @spier I did some research and found out we can add an index to Google just like this.

@yuhattor how can we confirm if we really have the problems that you assume we have in China?
I am thinking that before looking for solutions, we should validate the problem, or the extend of the problem.

For Problem 1: Indexing problems with Google:

What does it mean to be "indexed by Google in a more understandable way"?

For Problem 2: Indexing to Baidu and other Chinese search engines

It does indeed look like baidu has not indexed our patterns.

I looked around a little bit and some recommend that the Baidu Webmaster Tools provides a link submit tool. However I don't have a login for that, and could not quickly confirm how to get one. I tried using translation tools to use the page but without success so far :)
