Instead of using binder or setting up jupyter environment on host machine it would be great to provide a docker image that contains all third-party dependencies, iqs_jupyter module and example notebooks as well.

jupyter/minimal-notebook can be used as base image.

I think yes it is. In my opinion, it is a quite simple way of trying, isn't it? There is no need to install pip or conda packages to host or to an existing Jupyterhub.
