<p>Our society is dedicated to connecting Imperial's broad student base with industry, allowing our
members to gain exclusive knowledge of how data science is applied in the field. We also host talks
from our very own Data Science Institute, where academics introduce their cutting edge research and
futuristic insights. These events attract a wide variety of individuals from our
large and diverse member base, including masters, final-year students and undergraduates getting a
first taste of data science. </p>

<p>9 January 2020 — Expedia is the world's travel 🧳 platform with a purpose to bring the world within
reach. Today, technology is at the core of what Expedia does. Expedia is no more just a travel company;
they're a tech company that does travel.<br>
Expedia Group came to our campus to give an insight into the exciting projects they are working on,
which involve solving a wide range of business problems in travel and beyond using the cutting edge
in data science. They also advertised their summer internship

<p>27 November 2019— nPlan talked about how they are reforming construction project 👷🏾♀️planning through
the use of machine learning. Their company's focus was to improve the decision quality 🚧of future
operations by considering historical data, resulting in being named one of the 15 ML companies
to watch in Europe in 2019. For the talk, Alan Mosca, nPlan's CTO discussed the challenges they
have faced while working with large datasets and delivering engineering 🏗 solutions early on.</p>
