in one of your responses to a problem posted here, you said maus 2.5 is being released sometime in June of 2017. Well, we are well into February of 2018 and still no sign of an update. What is taking so long!?

I know it's even later now! I'm sorry for the year-long + hiatus, Maus is not dead (yet). I recently archived all of my projects to focus on classes, an internship, and other endeavors. I am not sure if I will be continuing Maus for now - however, if I do - it will likely not be in this same codebase it is now, it will likely be re-written in a better performant language using modern libraries.

A quick side note, Maus was developed 100% from scratch, my own server, my own UI, my own network protocols. I did this to learn more about software development in a project that I could own from start to finish. The problem with this, however, is that building upon that base now has been cumbersome, limiting, and introduced more bugs than necessary. In the future, if I decide to re-make Maus (or a spiritual successor) I will no be imposing constraints and will focus on exploring efficiency at a more in-depth level.

I thank everyone for their support and patience, but more importantly for showing me that something I make can be used and enjoyed by people at a global scale. Maus has and hopefully will continue to be, a great learning experience for me and anyone who cares to explore the source.
