Hi,

I got an idea.
is there any chance that we keep them in one markdown file?
I mean, we don't have to split all the post into different files.

Really appreciate it.

Hi Cheng,

Thanks a lot for your nice suggestions. That is indeed a very good idea.

In fact, when Moments was first created, all posts were located in one single file. There are a couple of reasons that made me decide to put each in different files.

  1. It is hard to manage the contents. I used to put the source contents in the front-matter, but it seemed to be a mess. Plus, I will add comments feature in the near future, it is hard to put all these pieces in good order.
  2. Still, I hope to find a way to make multiple posts within one file. But there is Another issue, which is how we can render Markdown files, and translate them into the format shown in Moments.

If you have any solution to the issues mentioned above or any other good ideas, please feel free to let me know. Again, I really appreciate your insight.

Well, my idea is that these posts are relatively short, and it is a bit inconvenient to use separate files for all of them. I am used to keeping a diary with one file per year with the date marked in it. I hope I can render my diary directly with hugo, instead of writing a post for this web site.

So for the two issues you mentioned.

  1. I'm not sure where the comments should be saved?
  2. As for this one, I think it's easy, that we can design a split system to split the post from one file to multiple files then hugo can process it. What do you think about it?

Anyway, thanks for considering my proposal.
Please tell me if you need any help.

Thanks,
Cheng
