Candidate thumbnails cannot be updated once an image with the given slug already exists.

After some investigation, this seems to be a caching issue. Adding a query string to the end of the file URL shows the newly uploaded file.

@blisteringherb Is there a way that the app can tell Fastly to clear cache for a particular resource?

Tagging as devops for now, since it's a Fastly related issue. We can always close if it's too much effort to make a fix. (It's not too hard to just nuke the cache if we end up changes any images in the future.)

Via @sheyd in Slack: there's an API for clearing Fastly cache! We should be able to selectively clear cache anytime a new image is generated. 🚽
