From Steam: https://steamcommunity.com/app/2346660/discussions/0/4369129313608588653/

Just a personal preference thing for me to show 40 hours played instead of 80 hours played in last 2 weeks, wondering if anyone felt the same and found a workaround?

Hiding hours logged works for that, but then it doesn't show I'm playing Dwarf Fortress.

Only thing that works for me is manually installing DFHack through git.

We could provide a commandline option that prevents the DFHack launcher from spin waiting. This would prevent players who use that option from using any DFHack features that require that connection, of course.

We'd also lose usage metrics, which could harm our ability to negotiate with Kitfox, but if players are just not installing DFHack through Steam because of this, then we've lost those metrics anyway.

CLI option seems fair to me.
