Hi @bumbeishvili @emcniece @bojanvidanovic @rolandschuetz

Thank you very much for suggesting this - it's been on my TODO list for a while. However, I wasn't going to do this until the hosting started to incur costs that were more than just a few pennies (cents!).

The applause button has become quit popular and hosting is now looking to cost a few hundred dollars a year! So now is a good time for me to start accepting donations.

I've signed up to open collective:

I like their model because it allows recurring donations (although one-off is still OK), which reflects my needs a little better, I want to cover hosting costs, not pay for my time. I also like the way that open collective is quite transparent, I can share the details of my costs, which keeps me honest :-)

Anyhow, feel free to donate 🙏

I think you should also consider filtering most traffic-heavy websites and contacting them, if cost grows more

Or you can also implement rate limiting, like it is used by "cors-anywhere"

:P I feel like @bumbeishvili ruined my gravy train!

That said, I'm also happy to help out.
