Hashtags with Ebay saved search links in GMail

When I receive an Ebay saved search email for an item that has a hashtag in it, in GMail, the URL encoded hashtag %23 is turned into an actual hashtag. The result is part of the URL after that point becomes an anchor reference and the data is lost.

For example, I have an Ebay saved search for "dc comics presents #26". When I right click->Copy Link, the link copied to the clipboard is

When I click the link, the page ends up as
https://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_sop=10&_svsrch=1&_nkw=dc+comics+presents+#26&_sacat=259104&_folent=21915323226&mkevt=1&mkpid=0&emsid=e11021.m44.l1150&mkcid=7&ch=osgood&euid=85a90bfd3e2944cb89bc8a145aa1959d&bu=43460519750&ut=RU&osub=-1~1&crd=20231216060626&segname=11021

When I disable this extension, reload the email, the link, both right-click-copy to clipboard and clicking through ends up with the first URL listed above.
