Socrata has released a new version of its API, and a few existing data types are now deprecated:

  • Phone replaced by simple Text
  • URL replaced by simple Text
  • Location replaced by Point, and sub-components (address, city, etc.) broken out into separate Text columns

These will be marked as Deprecated in the next release (currently scheduled as 0.5.0) and removed in a subsequent release.

Socrata has announced that for the upcoming maintenance window (2018-06-16), they will be officially changing the Phone datatype to Plain Text, and removing the ability to get/set the Phone.Type sub-property.

This was never marked as deprecated, but now certainly should be.
