Is it bad practice to override instance private method $__where using schema.methods as following

const { Model } = require('mongoose');

const MongoosePlugin = function (schema) {
  schema.methods.$__where = function (where) {
    where = Model.prototype.$__where.call(this, where);
  
    if (this._doc.assetId) {
      where.assetId = this._doc.assetId
    }
  
    return where;
  };
};

I have attached it globally & working perfectly as expected until now.
I want to know if it will break anything?
