Cold charging is likely the worst thing you can do to lithium-ion battery other than puncturing it. High speed charging speeds on EV's, for example, are gated mostly on how warm the batteries are.
Describe the solution you'd like
Similar to heat protection, instead set a minimum battery temperature to allow charging (i.e. 25C)
Describe alternatives you've considered
I usually just wait until it warms up, but this is annoying.
Additional context
Learned a practical lesson recently, plugged in an older macbook to charge that was sitting in a cold garage overnight. Within a day the batteries had swelled up to the point where the trackpad was unusable and the clamshell barely closed. I do not think it was just coincidence.
