Checklist

  • [x ] I have used the search function to see if someone else has already submitted the same feature request.
-> vaguely related to Sleep Timer: Stop at end of episode #2146 , but too different to add there.
  • [x ] I will only create one feature request per issue.
  • [x ] I will describe the problem with as much detail as possible.

Feature description

Huge fan of sleep timers! However, currently, there is a jump in volume when it engages (which sometimes actually wakes me) instead of a soft fading. Also, I find myself rather often not quite ready to sleep, so I unlock my phone to extend the timer. Which makes me more awake, taking me longer to be ready to sleep. The app Smart AudioBook Player found a pretty smart solution for this: it fades very softly and slowly and if you shake the device, it extends the sleep counter. Also: if you conintue the next day, it actually starts playing from where it started to fade. I simply love that implementation and would love to see it in my favorite podcatcher!

FYI in sleep timer you have a checkbox so you can shake to reset.
AntennaPod also already lower volume when sleep timer end. But as far as I remember it does quite rapidly in the last ten seconds. I didn't search but I am pretty sure there is another issue to ask to lower sound more slowly and not only in the last 10 seconds.

Version 2.1.x will lower the volume gradually instead of all at once. Shaking is already supported, as @Matth7878 wrote.

Oh sorry, just realized I switched the positions of AntennaPod and Smart Audiobook player - I was thinking THEY could benefit from these features. Sorry and thanks for pointing out my fault!
AntennaPod is by far the best implementation of this feature I've seen!
