MPEG is working on updating the SDL reference software. The software is currently hosted on the MPEG private repo http://mpegx.int-evry.fr/software/MPEG/Systems/sdl/sdl-grammar and hopefully will be public soon. It should be used to validate the SDL syntax snippets from this spec. This would help catch typos (e.g. unsigned in t(8) profile_version (extra space between "in" and "t") as well as other syntax errors.

FYI, MPEG is splitting the specification of SDL from MPEG-4 Systems Part 1 to its own part (14496-34). It's mostly the same text. The committee draft will be available soon https://dms.mpeg.expert/doc_end_user/current_document.php?id=87768&id_meeting=194

Also some people use the Flavor open source software to validate their SDL but I hear it is not perfect.
