Context

From Yuvi,

We currently don't have the expectation that pagerduty actually page anyone on their phones at all, just me :) I think figuring out a policy for that longterm would be ideal, but I think that's a bigger story.

Proposal

We need to write a minimal policy to make sure people are paged when they are in "rotation".
That assumes we would need an on-call rotation at some time.

A few questions:

  • In the meantime, what would be the alternative?
  • How many of our engineers are currently paged by PagerDuty?
  • How do we make sure the current state is not overloading just one (or a few) engineer/s?
