@jmunroe indicated on slack related to a request to provide an onboarding tutorial 2i2c has committed to holding, that it would be generally useful to create such tutorial content and that should be tracked in a dedicated issue - this issue!

Following @sgibson91 suggestion, I'm thinking about using The Carpentries Workshop as a framework to create this tutorial content.

@jmunroe we are partnering with The Carpentries for this upcoming CZI grant (if we get it 🤞). If so, I think they'd also be able to provide us with some of their training courses for how to create Carpentries-style material. I know that's more of a medium-term thing but wanted to note it...I think it's a great idea to riff off of already-successful modes, and I also like the idea of "train the trainers" in general as a way of building capacity in these communities.

For sure. I just registered for CarpentryCon 2022 which includes very promising sessions such as "Skill Up: Building Lessons with The Carpentries Workbench"

Just noting that I'm a trained Carpentries instructor, have done all the training and used their lesson template in multiple projects 😄

@jmunroe I may be biased but I fully endorse this approach 😆 The CarpentryCon skill-up session would be a great place to start. If you would like to follow up afterwards on anything covered there, feel free to get in touch (my GitHub username at carpentries dot org) or schedule a call with me.
