Hi I am getting errors when trying to run next build, when running next dev it works fine

This error happened to me when I tried to access a page that doesn't exist.
So I tried to access /login but i forgot i renamed the folder to app/somethingelse

As @eljaytegmark said, instead of next build, npm run build works. But remember to delete .next folder in root if applicable, which behaves as build cache.

Interesting. I tried that and it didn't work, but I switched from pnpm back to npm and it solved my issues with things like useMemo missing. Thank you for leading me in the right direction!

I solved this issue by downgrading the next js version. I used app dir for my regular project and for the documentation template I used Nextra. I don't know why, the next js v13.4 is not working for me. so downgrade to 13.2.1 and it's working fine now

I was facing this same issue with Next Blog (Next + Nextra), I override the Build & Development Settings in Vercel from "next build" to pnpm build and "yarn install, npm install..." to pnpm install.
Shockingly pnmp was the magic kindoff.

Found a solution that i believe makes sense for why other temporary solutions worked. From what i can tell, vercel is aggressively caching build steps, and useMemo on routes that dont have much data (atleast in my case) are corrupting the cache in some way. All i had to do to resolve the issue is re-deploy without checking Use existing Build Cache on the redeploy dialog box. If you deploy via pushing a commit, this seems to automatically re-use the cache which results in a failed deployment. This would also explain why changing build tools / changing node versions fixes the issue, since both of these actions result in a new deployment that would presumably make a completely new build cache.

Was facing the same error in 13.4.2. Went away when removed experimental server actions from the config. My deployments worked before server actions, and they work after removing server actions.

Same here. Started happening for me when I deployed with experimental server actions enabled. I did what @GentikSolm suggested and it worked for me. I had a useMemo reference in a file that had some ts errors in it. Normally this isn't a problem because I ignore it in ts.config but after setting server actions to true, ts was looking at that file again? Really odd. Experimental indeed! Anyways, clearing the build cache worked for me.

Can confirm the serverAction feature is the cause. I have to disable it when using the group routing feature to be able to build.

This issue is resolved for me after talking with @TooTallNate

Fix for me was the following:

1. Update vercel to 30.2.2
2. Set each client application rootDirectory to the real root directory (apps/appname/client)
3. Link repo in root via vercel link --repo
4. Build as normal (running build commands from the app folder (apps/appname/client)

In my project after running npm audit fix then run npm run build after deleting the .next folder the error still persists. I tried with all the versions of nextjs 13.4.5, 13.4.2, 14.0.3 with node version 20.11.0, 18.17.5 but the error during build is not resolved.

Currently I'm using 13.4.19 version of nextjs

It seems like you have used a useContext hook with SSR component, and it is under your build folder you need to look for the peer dependencies or dependencies to check whether they are using useContext hook on SSR component. Or if you want to disable any functionality to change modify you nextjs-config file.
