i found the problem. If you use NordVPN you need to activate custom DNS. Because even if you have custom DNS on the network card and NordVPN close or open with auto DNS, it will have a conflict. IDK why this problem appear only with rustdesk |

Dear Rustdesk team, I know you guys made a change to upgrade your servers due to increased capacity the other day but this change seriously blew up connectivity from how it was previously. Even adding an entry for rs-ny.rustdesk.com 108.61.171.103 in a hosts file doesn't work. It still seems to want to resolve to "vultuser" (or some such domain) rather than rs-ny.rustdesk.com as you state. Seems like a DNS issue rather than an "us" issue. Was a pointer record created to point to the new rs-ny.rustdesk.com from the old vultuser.... records? That could more than likely fix it. |

It seems only 1.1.9 clients are being affect by these recent changes. I see 1.1.9 client showing Ready > Connecting > ready > Connecting...or just being ins a "Connecting..." state. |

My DNS is 4.2.2.2 & 8.8.8.8 but still, there's no way this is the problem. One is Level3 and the other is Google. Both of them are top notch companies serving that DNS. |

If before they upgraded everything was pointing to 108.61.171.103.vultrusercontent.com and now after the upgrade everything is supposed to point to rs-ny.rustdesk.com / 108.61.171.103 but somewhere there are references still to 108.61.171.103.vultrusercontent.com then DNS is jacked up somehow / somewhere. |

Wow, and now my machine running 1.2.4 build from 1/30/24 shows "Not ready. Please check your connection." Was fine yesterday. ='( Hey Rustdesk team, please set up a GoFundMe or some other way we can throw $$$ at you to buy server hosting or bandwidth. I'll never complain about something I don't pay for but if we're using your free solution, at least make it easier for us users who rely on it to support with your infrastructure so it stays stable. If you have not already done so, would love to see you guys create a turn-key solution that does 2 things:

I understand this clearly. But somehow, somewhere it is still referencing 108.61.171.103.vultrusercontent.com as 108.61.171.103 instead of rs-ny.rustdesk.com / 108.61.171.103 for us. DNS, a DNS entry or a DNS PTR record out in the greater Internet is busted somewhere. It has to be. |

Yup, got a scanner so we'll have to do some detective work. Thankfully I use a good machine naming convention and can figure out who is who quickly. This workaround is a huge, huge help! @kevinjaygonz, where do I send the beer!? |

Ok so it seems this "Constant Company" is legit in Singapore where you're at. I thought they hijacked you or the other IP (108.61.171.103). When I queried rustdesk,com (https://search.dnslytics.com/ip/45.76.181.120) they seem to be your true provider. Info about DNS Blacklist you can read here: https://www.dnsbl.info You don't send spam so it's curious it has two blocks listed. I am guessing you might have to call your hosting company and try to fix it if possible. They can usually reach out on your behalf to the places blocking you (currently two it seems: b.barracudacentral.org and spam.dnsbl.sorbs.net) and remove the block. But it could be a false positive due to that IP being flagged as bad due to some other customer resolving to the same IP address doing bad things. I'm so sorry this is happening to your service. =( |

Same here. It would be neat to bypass it needing to relay to rs-ny.rustdesk.com and just connect. Again, unless you and I are doing something different than what scorpio421 is doing, it's just not working per his instructions. |

It's probably still getting hit by the DoS attack if it's flapping. Remember that the thousands of clients who are sitting around and waiting on a connection to the server are also in a state of trying to connect to it which, inadvertently, also creates a DoS situation as well. |

Why not sit the server endpoints behind a Cloudflare reverse proxy (https://developers.cloudflare.com/cloudflare-one/connections/connect-networks/) and then you can utilise their free DDOS and WAF protections to protect the endpoints. |

That's good news, thanks for reporting. I saw my client in a "Ready" state but didn't want to jinx it by trying to connect to anything yet. Just tried 8:47PM CST, "failed to connect to rendezvous server" error so maybe for you in India it's using a Euro or other server and working ok? To what IP is it connecting for you? CPorts is showing mine trying to use 108.61.171.103. |

Sir, please provide steps to know that info. As I mentioned earlier, I am not tech savvy. just use RD to connect to my clients for designing work. BTW, I jst connected to one of my clients machine and it is working fine. EVen showing on home few of clients in green dot which mean RD is working there as well. |

It seems that uptime site doesn't quite keep up with the actual servers being up. I noticed RD was up briefly the other night but the uptime site said it was still down. Maybe a lag between uptime and actual server reporting to it. |

There hasn't been an update to this in a couple of days. Is RustDesk still having problems getting up to full service? I can get connected sporadically to machines in one location while machines in another location all show offline. That location had a firewall issue last night so I just want to make sure that RustDesk is still having issues and that I should wait to try and figure out if it's the firewall there or just RustDesk's ongoing problems. Not to mention that buried in your ISP service agreement it usually states that you're not allowed to run anything from home that acts like a server service. Though enforcement is usually lax and you get a warning or two, if you get caught you get banned. |

@kozman1000 I find your argument nonsense. Firstly, torrenting cannot be stopped due to its distributed design and the use of trackers. If it could be, I am sure the entertainment industry would pay to make it happen. They have the money. Who would run them? Considering those who use rustdesk are typically technical support people who understand ISP agreements. A lot of ISPs offer static IPs as, they expect you are going to run a service from it. Why else would you want a static? Its not uncommon these days at all to be running a hosted service even from home (In the era of working from home). Many service agreements do not stop this. Otherwise, end users go to the ISP that offer a more open service agreement. Suck if you're in a monopolistic area however. The Rustdesk community is likely the most willing and able to contribute to a distributed ID-Server swarm. Many would be doing hosting support type services as well. ALSO, network operators (ISPs) would likely operate their own to make sure rustdesk works well on their network to encourage customers to join. I would expect that the rustdesk core team may be against this as if you take away the gatekeeper ability of running the service, it greatly devalues the potential money to be made on an exit later. However, if they are true to their original belief in making rustdesk an alternative to the many competitors, most of which have "the first hit is free, once you are established with them they turn around and screw you". They should implement a distributed solution. They have to, otherwise, the incumbents will DoS them into the ground. rustdesk cannot afford to battle them on this front. The cost of running a service that can put up with the size and power of the DoS they are under is extremely expensive. They have to dismantle the ability for them to DoS them out of existence. So, they will have to go to a distributed path. I don't see them having much choice. If the incumbents have a way to put you out of business, they will. It's, unfortunately, the way business is done these days. @RickyHolland even Cloudflared has limitations.. Imagine if a larger incumbent decided to use its installation of client installs as active DoS agents drip-feeding the attack to avoid detection. potentially millions of clients. There is no way you could stop that if you have dedicated ID-servers. And don't say it can never happen. For example, how a back door was discovered in iPhones over Christmas, could only have been put in by Apple themselves. A big provider would never do that. Well sorry, it happens all the time. Even with Apple. It's business. |

You find my argument nonsense? As someone who received a cease and desist from my internet provider, the industry knows. I am not saying it's not possible. I am saying the model of torrenting and non-centralized distribution model may not be suitable for what products like Rustdesk et al do. Don't you think if there was some way to make Rustdesk be like a torrent client someone would have already done it? Bad actors would still figure out a way to direct their ire toward a distributed network? A tracker is still where you get connection information. If you take out the tracker, you're done. There is still a single point of failure in the chain to be attacked. It is not possible for there not to be a locus or point to connect point A to point C. Rather than changing the program, find the origin IP and try and shut them down. They will go to another IP but traffic can be shut down. It is not that hard. Even for so called bulletproof hosting in China or Russian. Ever ISP answers to someone higher than them. Cut the head off the snake. |

If rustdesk, as a free to generally extremely low-cost tool, wants to overcome this issue without spending a lot of money. they don't have a choice. Those are the basic facts. Yes, trackers can be attacked, but its much harder to bring down and costs the attacker much more money effort and likelihood they will be detected. The only reason it has not already been done are two fold. DoS attacks cannot be shutdown as they are distributed themselves. They can be mitigated through spending a lot of money on services that offer those services. A free tool like rustdesk will never be in a position to beat this if they stay with static ID-servers. They are an easy target and will never have the money to deal with it well. Anyway, I have painted the picture. And really, I don;t think they have much of a choice. They will be severely compromised in the eyes of the general user using it for remote support. (Its not working, lets switch to XXX and don't look back) and a bad name and massive erosion of the user base will follow. RustDesk does need to allow a client to connect to a global and private server at the same time (Or as many as you like). It's a major problem with the software. |

Not a quick fix for the current DoS attack but what about using something like https://github.com/holepunchto/hyperswarm as an alternative to relays. It's based on DHT technology so in theory, may be more resilient to DoS attacks. |

For all the proponents of the "torrent" method: you have to understand that although it is decentralized, it is dynamic, not static which is what successful use of Rustdesk would need. Things needs to be static for it to work really, really well. |

The dynamic nature of a distributed system can work just as well. The ID-server can come up on random IPs, which then has a function of continuously updating a table that lists those IPs. As long as you can start a client and it has one active ID-server in its list. It can connect to the network and update its list to the latest version. The client then connects to the closest/least-congested server making connecting faster. There is nothing wrong with this method over basic static, its just a far more complex implementation. But ultimately archives the same outcome, but is now also near impossible to stop with brute force DoS attach. |

It appears that the public RustDesk rendezvous server is under a DDoS lockdown and thus not available. I was able to remedy the issue only by setting up my own server on Ubuntu. |

I think the more ways you allow people to donate or sponsor, the easier you will be able to reach your monthly goals. Not all of your users have a Github account. Paypal, Patreon, GoFundMe? If people can't get their donations to you in an easy way, it makes it kind of hard to support getting you a higher server level. Please consider it and blast the news out somehow. |

For anyone still frustrated by unstable official rustdesk servers, consider installing Zerotier, Netbird or any other peer2peer VPN solution and use direct IP-based connections within the VPN. From my experience (zerotier+rustdesk) this has worked flawlessly ever since deployment. |
