Keyboard shortcut to reorder commits in GitHub Desktop app

hi all,
I would like to know if there is an alternative for users who rely solely on keyboards, like screen reader users, to reorder commits within the GitHub Desktop app. Is there a method for achieving this without using a mouse?

• To select a commit, press Enter on the commit.
• To move a commit up one position, press Alt+Up.
• To move a commit down one position, press Alt+Down.
• To move a commit to the top of the list, press Alt+Home.
• To move a commit to the bottom of the list, press Alt+End.

Once you have reordered the commits, you can press Enter to save your changes.

• If you are using a screen reader, you may need to use the Tab key to navigate between the commits.

but unfortunately, I am unable to do so.
yes I am using a screen reader, and tried the above mentioned step with both, 'JAWS' and 'NVDA'.

steps I am following:

1. opened GitHub Desktop app,
2. navigating to the 'history' tab, on the selected branch in a repository.
3. navigating through the commits list using tab, there, all the commits are navigable via up/down arrow keys.
4. then, trying to select the commits using enter/space key, and trying to reorder them via "alt + up/down" but no changes observed

so, do we need to follow some other steps to perform the task with the screen reader?

so maybe there is no keyboard shortcut to reorder commits in GitHub Desktop for screen reader users.yes The workaround that you mentioned is the only way to do it at the moment.

Thanks so much for reaching out here. GitHub Desktop does support a number of keyboard shortcuts, you can find them listed here: GitHub Desktop keyboard shortcuts. GitHub.com also has a list of supported keyboard shortcuts as well: Keyboard shortcuts.

However, I don't see one listed that would allow you to reorder commits within the GitHub Desktop app (I recommend you check out both articles listed above to verify!). I can send this feedback over to the Accessibility team and, if it is indeed not an option at this time, hopefully it will be an option in the near-future.

@PoojaSharma07 I wanted to follow up here and let you know that we'll be implementing a more accessible option for reordering commits in GitHub Desktop. This new option will allow you to enter a mode where you can reorder commits via the keyboard. You can check out the PR at desktop/desktop#17671 for more information. I hope that helps!
