We have quite a few reasons why we don't do Flatpak internally:
AppImage, despite its compromises, allows us to distribute the binaries built with the features we want enabled. |

Hey all! I'm a volunteer with Flathub, the Linux app store with over a million active users, backed by KDE and GNOME, usable on all modern Linux distros, and included out of the box on Steam Deck desktop mode, Clear Linux, Endless OS, Fedora Linux, KDE Neon, Linux Mint, Pop!_OS, Zorin OS, and more.
As you probably know, a community-maintained build of Audacity is available on Flathub with over 500k installs. I was originally reaching out to see if you all would be interested in verifying your app, but in doing my research I see that the team always directs folks to the Flathub issue tracker and says the Flatpak is not supported.
As someone who uses Audacity on Endless OS and Fedora Silverblue, Flatpak is the only way I install apps—and it's clearly the preferred cross-desktop format that the desktop environments and distros are all adopting and collaborating on. So I was wondering: what would need to happen for the Flatpak to be supported? Is it a technical limitation, a social decision, a maintenance concern, or something else? I'm aware I've posted in the ☢️ Hot potatoes category, so I'm prepared to hear real talk, here. :)
I'm also happy to help out however I can and answer any questions you may have about Flatpak or Flathub!
