❗ IMPORTANT: The data update was stopped on March 31, 2023

With the change in methodology by the Ministry of Health to weekly data updates, our main source did not receive any more updates as of March 18, 2023. To avoid inconsistencies, it was decided not to update the data after this date. The link to the official note from the Ministry of Health is available here.

My voluntary work to maintain this database has been uninterrupted since March 2020, when the first cases were confirmed in the country. Unfortunately, I can no longer make a commitment to provide accessible and transparent data to the population, this task being totally out of my responsibility.

Number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 in Brazil

Tip: when cloning it is highly recommended to use a depth of just 1 commit, as there are several daily updates, with git clone --depth 1.

A dataset with numbers of COVID-19 in Brazil. There is data available for cases and deaths at the municipality level, with official information given by Ministério da Saúde, and official federative units reports via Brasil.IO. Data for suspected cases and vaccines (first and second doses) are also available, collected by @coronavirusbra1. Other data, such as recovered and tests were extracted from @coronavirusbra1 until October 2020, and now come from Giscard, with corrections and retroactive updates. The numbers of cases and deaths for the current day by federative unit level can be extract from Giscard's data, while the temporal evolution is given exclusively by Ministério da Saúde (with some corrections, see _fixes_meta.csv) and Brasil.IO.

It is worth stressing that all data provided here are by the release date of reports from each federative unit. Take care when interpreting these data.

This dataset is maintained exclusively by me, Wesley Cota, with daily updates from different sources. The webpage https://covid19br.wcota.me/en/ presents graphs and more information provided by this dataset.

In general, the data available here follow CC BY 4.0 or compatible license. However, some data, such as cases and deaths at municipality level via Brasil.IO follow a CC BY-SA 4.0 license. When using these data, please follow the license from the original source, which is CC BY-SA 4.0.

In any case, read the file DESCRIPTION.en.md for more information about the columns available for each file, and the ones from the original sources. It is not necessary to ask for permission to use these data, as long as you cite the source and this repository.

This dataset is part of a Post-Doctoral project registered at Universidade Federal de Viçosa, with a fellowship by CAPES.
